This past weekend I really got myself back in
the game.
Saturday morning @ TNT group run I (killed)
10 miles. The group was running anywhere
between 10-13 miles this week, but Friday night I had a real talk with myself
and given my dip in training the past 2 weeks, I decided I was going to do 10
miles no matter how I felt at mile 5. No
need to be a hero. I was running with 2
new friends (AHHH NEW FRIENDS???) chatting away and finally looked down at my
phone and realized I had gone 5.18. I literally stopped mid-sentence and said “Woah,
I need to turn around.” We said our goodbyes as they kept going and I trekked
along back. The humidity was a beast by
the end, but getting in 10 miles makes me feel great, awesome, wonderful,
stupendous & fantastic. I was also
reminded of the power behind setting 2 alarms.
Our meet time was 6am at a park about 25 minutes away. I had one alarm (phone next to bed) set for
5:01am and another alarm across the room set for 5:07am. Well….I don’t remember
the 5:01 going off and when I got out of bed to (obviously) push the 5:07 alarm
back, I started processing slowly in my head, “Wait a minute – why is my alarm
set for 5am? That’s weird. I’m tired. Oh
wait – WAIT – WAIT! Wake up!” Lesson:
Maybe I need 3 alarms.
I also had a great hot yoga practice
yesterday afternoon after a minor meltdown earlier in the day that resulted in
me calling my mom and apologizing for the fact I can be such a witch with a B
sometimes. My mom is the greatest and knows when to ignore me. Hot yoga totally reminds me to CTFD and live
a happy life.
I also can BARELY move today. Popping Motrin as we speak!
